Gynecology is essential to the system of women’s medicine, focusing on women’s health and wellbeing. In a routine annual gynecological test, conditions requiring referral to more comprehensive examinations may be identified, or further monitoring may be required. Maintaining an appropriate frequency of routine tests serves as a preventive or diagnostic solution for infections or diseases.
This study sought to improve women’s experience in routing gynecological tests and included digital observations, interviews with experts, a review of the literature, participant observation and semi-structured interviews. It was found that women avoid routine tests, as opposed to tests related to fertility and birth, due to lack of awareness of the importance of the test. In addition, lack of relevant information leads to stress and confusion.
As part of the study, I developed a project to raise awareness of the importance of routine tests and provide support in three timestamps – before, during and after the test. The support provides relevant information for each stage and organizes the health information in a way that reduces confusion and helplessness.
The project is part of a movement for perception change which invites a holistic approach to maintaining women’s health in the HMO, and includes the fertility, pregnancy and delivery areas as part of an overall system of women’s health.
