The project deals with the experience of farmers, especially those living near the borderline. As a member of a family of border farmers, I have been exposed to the difficult feelings of farmers unable to tend to their field.
The object is made up of two parts: a technological ball camouflaged as a vegetable, which may be placed on the plant and in several places in the field. The ball contains sensors and a camera. The second part is a smart and simple interface – an AI app connected to the local system, which collects and analyzes data. The app presents the data to the remote farmers, enabling them to choose whether to arrive at the field, and giving them a sense of control.
The interface is designed to improve the sense of presence and confidence of farmers away from the field. Through a combination of advanced sensors, cameras, smart interface and data analysis, the system enables farmers to obtain real-time information about their field, including environmental conditions, unusual movements, pests, and changes to the plant. The app talks to the farmer and other fields in the area, providing a broad and accurate picture, including action items, thereby improving farming effectiveness and food security. The interface was created out of a deep understanding of the unique challenges encountered by farmers near borders, and offers an advanced technological solution that combines a sense of control, confidence, innovation, and accessibility.
